Happy 1st Birthday Wyatt!!

We had a blast celebrating Wyatt's first birthday on December 2nd. Steve smoked some pork butt and we had approximately 13 children and 20 adults. I couldn't settle on a theme, so we just had a good old fashion birthday party with a ton of balloons and confetti.

It is amazing that in 12 months our little boy has grown from a sleepy, sweet, butter bean...

Halloween Chicken

Shortly after we moved into our new house, we celebrated Halloween with our new Neighborhood! Everyone convened on Noble Park for a Halloween parade. We did two laps around the park led by the neighborhood bagpipe player.

Burt's Farm & Bad Dog Tater

We traveled up to Burt's Pumpkin Farm with the Bouton cousins for Columbus day.  For Wyatt, there was a lot to take in as we meandered through the rows of pumpkins. He got to see a ton of different varieties of pumpkins--small ones, gigantic ones, white ones, funky ones, etc.

Buddies

Wyatt particularly enjoyed the Hayride, which was surprisingly good. The tractor took us through a field of beautiful sunflowers and rows of pumpkins. We also saw giant talking pumpkins. What Wyatt enjoyed most was being free to crawl around in the hay and engage the other riders.

One of my favorite memories of the day was the cute, tiny pumpkin that Kacie gave to Wyatt. Now, it is no secret that Kacie loves her younger cousin Wyatt. We brought the pumpkin home and Wyatt played with it, gummed it, dropped it over and over--the norm. Earlier this week, I noticed that Bad Dog Tater was quietly hiding from my view. I should have known the bad dog was up to no good. When I looked around the coffee table he was going to town on the pumpkin. That rascal had nabbed Wyatt's cute little pumpkin! He devoured it the entire pumpkin stem and all. This is a perfect example of why he is "Bad Dog" Tater.

Adrienne's Wedding

Steve, Wyatt and I attended Adrienne's wedding early this month. The ceremony was held at Agnes Scott, which is very special to me. This was Wyatt's first visit to my Alma Mater. Wyatt's behavior was impeccable!

Isle of Palms 2012

In June we headed down to Isle of Palms, South Carolina for the Hatch Family beach trip. Wyatt had such a blast with all of his cousins as they provide endless entertainment. He was a bit hesitant when we introduced him to the ocean. The waves were a bit overwhelming and the water was uncharacteristically chilly.

The day after we got back was Father's day. Because we were scheduled to show the house, we were unable to fully celebrate Steve's first father's day. However, in our family, we always find time for Ice Cream cake!

Wyatt's First Beach Trip

I'm such a terrible "blogger"/ poster/ facebook updater that it is no surprise that I am blogging about May in September. We did have a very busy summer listing our house then unlisting.... and buying then not buying a new one. It was one crazy summer .

Early May we took a short weekend trip to Gulfport, Mississippi to visit our dear friends Emilie & Preston. Although we were unable to go to the Beach (one-eyed fish as a legacy of the BP mess??), we had a wonderful time enjoying the sunshine at the pool. Wyatt took to the pool easily and I'm excited to enroll him in swim classes soon!

Wyatt's not so sure about this, but would love a nap!

As you can see, Emilie took some amazing pictures! She is very talented and one of Wyatt's favorite buddies. He had a great time hamming it up for all to see.

First Mother's day

I was super giddy about my first mothers day. Before Wyatt's arrival, Steve and I had fairly low expectations for parenthood, in that we expected the worst.  You know--all of the horror stories stuck were hard to shake. By setting our expectations low, we have definitely been surprised and we definitely didn't anticipate how good it would be. Don't get me wrong, we couldn't wait to start our family. We have loved watching our nieces and nephews grow and we love to horse around with them. However, we didn't know we could crazy about someone. Steve asked me tonight how I felt about being known as "Mom" for the rest of my life. I told him, "Awesome."

Solids

On April 9th we introduced rice cereal to Wyatt, hoping that it would help him sleep through the night. Introducing solids did not help him sleep--he just loved having his mother come visit him every 3 hours during the night. However, we have definitely enjoyed the culinary adventure--from the funny faces/grimaces he makes to the distance that he can launch the food.

He enjoyed his first solid--Rice Cereal mixed with some breast milk. Hmmmmm.....appetizing??

There are times when Wyatt would rather eat his foot.

Green Peas are always a favorite at Chez Hatch.

Well...until they are not.
